The Intermediate Defensive Handgun training class is a one day course developed for novice and experienced shooters. It dives deeper into the defensive shooting mindset by enhancing basic skills and introducing new techniques and stress. Students should be comfortable operating their handgun from a holster and have a good grasp on handgun operation/marksmanship. This is a good class for shooters who have taken classes before and want a low stress brush-up of critical skills.

This class builds on the skills learned in the introductory class by doing more, faster. After a brief refresher, the class progresses into more advanced weapons manipulation and shooting. Students will practice positional shooting and using cover/concealment in more detail, along with engaging multiple targets, basic movement, and operating near others.

Areas covered during this class:

• Reinforcement of firearms and range safety
• Review of violence of action and post-shooting issues
• Enhancing basic marksmanship fundamentals: grip, stance, sight picture, sight alignment, trigger control, follow-through, natural point of aim, firing sequence
• Reducing your signature through various positions
• Enhancing the proper shooting presentation from both high ready and the holster
• Manipulating your weapon safely when operating near others
• Shooting accurately and quickly
• Additional malfunctions and corrective actions
• Reloading effectively
• Arm's length engagements
• Discussion of RDS and/or light equipped weapon systems, handheld lights
• Shooting multiple rounds and considering multiple targets
• Understanding cover and concealment and how to use both
• Basic turning, moving, and getting off the "X" with your handgun deployed
• Dryfire training options for practicing at home

Prerequisites:

• Introductory-level handgun class
• Open mind
  
• Must be lawful for you to possess a firearm in the United States
