The Introduction to Firearms and Defensive Handgun training class is a one day class split 50% in the classroom and 50% on the range. This class is ideal for the new shooter, but experienced shooters might also appreciate revisiting the fundamentals. If you've never taken a formal class before, this is a good place to start and will identify bad practices hampering your accuracy. We explain everything, demonstrate it, and then walk you through both dry fire and live fire training techniques.

The class dives into firearms safety, storage, selection, and legal issues before hitting the range for crawl-walk-run shooting instruction. Students will learn basic marksmanship fundamentals before progressing into using a holster, correcting malfunctions, and reloading. We will use coaching and debriefs to ensure you are properly developing the skill sets necessary to be a responsibly armed citizen.

Areas covered during this class:

  • Safety - handling, range, storage, operational
  • Legal, ethical, and moral considerations for using a gun in self defense
