Introduction to Scoped Carbine will train shooters on the fundamental skills needed to effectively engage targets out to 500 yards with their lightweight, semi-automatic carbines. Students will learn about rifle scope setup, MOAs and MILs, reticle types, and other aspects of lightweight-precision rifle setup.

Students will receive refresher instruction on the fundamentals of marksmanship (shooting from a prone position) and external ballistics. The class will then be shown the step-by-step process for chronographing ammunition, and entering data into a ballistic calculator app, which will then provide baseline ballistic data needed to engage long-range targets. Students will be walked through the “truing” process, and engage targets repeatedly out to 500 yards.

When students have completed this class, they will possess the knowledge to obtain and confirm ballistic data for any rifle / ammo combination, saving them time, money and frustration in the future when purchasing a new rifle, changing ammunition, scopes or other equipment. Additionally, students will learn how to account for environmental affects, which will allow them to shoot in any environment or location and be able to obtain accurate firing solutions for their rifle.

This course is not designed for new rifle shooters - students who attend should have first successfully completed a basic carbine course, or be proficient in manipulating their carbines, zeroing, and have the skills to shoot consistent groups with their carbines at 100 yards.
